Party Unity
I have spoken to many local Democrats, some politically active, some not, about the election for United States Senator. Almost to a man the comments are: we have to remove Rick Santorum from office. This Senator with his polarizing politics, his brazen lobbyist strongarming on K Street and his shameless self promotion may well be the impetus we need to galvinize local Democrats. Which candidate has the best chance to defeat Mr. Santorum? Going into the primary I believe that many people will vote for the man that best represents their values. This a key point for we Democrats: WE ARE NOT THE GOP WHERE EVERYONE MUST TOE THE LINE. We vote our conscience in May, we vote to win in November. It can be hard to maintain some sense of unity in an inclusive party like ours but it is what we will continue to do. Keep the faith!
